Free and Reduced Price Meals

All households in the New Braunfels Independent School District have the right to apply for Free and Reduced price meal benefits for their school age children.  The financial perimeters of this program are set and governed by the United States Department of Agriculture and the program itself is supervised by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Students beginning a new school year within the same school district fall under the same eligibility guidelines as they did the previous year; however, eligibility status must be re-evaluated each year in order to determine current year benefits.
In accordance with Federal guidelines, NBISD provides breakfast and lunch at no charge for students who qualify for free meals and charges $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch for students who quality for reduced-price meals.
Please access the USDA website to check to see if your household meets the Income Eligibility Guidelines.

Menus

Menus for New Braunfels ISD are designed locally through the Food Service Department’s Menu Committee, surveys and our Student Nutritional Advisory Committee (SNAC).  All menu items are analyzed for nutritional content by Nutrikids Nutrient Analysis software.  Menu items are analyzed for calories, sodium, fat, saturated fat, trans fats, cholesterol, carbohydrates and Vitamins A and C.
ARAMARK Education and New Braunfels I.S.D. are devoted to providing the students, faculty, administration and community visitors with the most wholesome, nutritious meal available.

Elementary Menus

For breakfast, our Elementary menus offer two entrees and three to five sides dishes with the option to select or decline milk.   For lunch, four entrees, including fresh salad shakers, baked potatoes and fresh fruits are offered along with a combination of six to ten side dishes and the option to select or decline milk.  In order for students to complete the USDA meal matrix, they must choose an entree and a minimum of two or a maximum of three side offerings from the daily menu.  Milk may be selected or declined by the student.

Systems Design Point of Sale

The NBISD Point of Sale (POS) system is designed and updated by Systems Design as new features are added to the software.  The NBISD Food Service Department works closely with Systems Design to communicate necessary software needs in order to “customize” the program to New Braunfels ISD.
This software works on a pre-pay or cash only basis.   An alternative lunch will be provided to your child if sufficient funds are not available in their account.   The meal will consist of a peanut butter or cheese sandwich, fresh fruit and milk.
Parents can pre-pay on-line once an account has been set up for their student.    In order to set up an account or add money to an account on-line, you will need your child’s account number.  Parents can get this number by calling their child’s school cafeteria or by calling the Food Service Office at 830-627-6742. Parents can also send payment in the form of cash or check made payable to NBISD Food Service directly to their child’s school cafeteria.
Please contact Tammy Villarreal for any questions regarding your child’s account balance or history.
We hope this information has been useful to you.
The NBISD Food Service Department thanks you for your support!
