Cyber Connect II Exhibits are Now On-Line!
The Cyber Connection II has desgined our exhibits as an electronic way to visit great practices in technology integration. Sometimes it can be challenging to schedule classroom visits to see how lessons and units are planned, mananged, and develped into products. After visiting collections of lessons plans on-line, we decided we wanted to have our exhibits look like the very best - and the very best design was on the Apple Learning Interchange.

The Exhibits linked below with “posted before rubric” were our initial exhibits when we were learning the hows and whats of the process. Other exhibits will then follow the rubic expectations defined on the Phase III and Phase IV resources page.

During the 2005-2006 school year peer coaching teams are working on exhibits that meet the rubric expectations. Also working on exhibits are other teachers in the collaborative who are working toward meeting the Phase III and Phase IV expectations.

Our History

The Texas Education Agency awarded Comal ISD, New Braunfels ISD, and Nixon-Smiley CISD a $1.9 million grant award under the Technology Integration in Education (TIE) grant program for the 2000-2001 school year. The Cyber Connection began as a collaborative project between the three districts. It was intended to improve student achievement by fully integrating technology into teaching and learning; and to ensure that all Texas students are technologically literate by 2010.

Our Future

As fiscal agent, NBISD will serve as a mentor to other collaborating entities to continue efforts established with the original Cyber Connection Project. Cyber Connection '03 will include New Braunfels ISD, Nixon Smiley CISD, Waelder ISD, Nancy Ney Charter School and New Braunfels Christian Academy. The emphasis will remain on supplying all the needed resources, including software, hardware, and training, for teachers to effectively integrate technologies into their curricula. A new addition will encompass the development of student competencies, which will track student mastery of the K-8 Technology Applications TEKS.

Our Commitment

The Cyber Connection is committed to providing educators and students with the technological tools, skills, knowledge, and training required for the 21st century. The first stage in this endeavor is to ensure that educators are competent with the technology applications that facilitate their work and support student learning. The second stage is to increase student academic performance by redesigning the learning environment to more effectively blend technology into all content areas and grade levels. Finally, the Cyber Connection project will provide electronic access to informational and educational resources by connecting members in a geographical area of nearly 1000 square miles. As a result of these initiatives, students will benefit from an enriched learning environment, in which teachers facilitate the construction of knowledge.
