Student CompetenciesThe CyberConnection II Target Grant has been working on Student Competencies for K-12 students. This is basically a timeline that chronicles the skills students should be taught from elementary through Middle School. 1. We have developed a series of charts that state the TEK that was to be taught at each grade level and if the skill is Introduced (I), Practiced (P), or Mastered (M). We call them our IPM charts. Below you will find links to the charts that have been developed to this point. 2. In addition Technology Vocabulary Lists have been created so that students will have a foundation vocabulary at a young age and build upon it each year.
3. The creation of the following Teacher Guides will assist teachers by listing specific ways to address the Technology Application TEKS. (We are still developing these and will post them as soon as they are complete)
This website gives parents, students, and teachers access to software tutorials. If you have a question on “How To” do something with computer software then this is what you have been looking for! There are tutorials for both Macs and PC platforms. Once you login you can search for a topic you are interested in. After you find your topic and click on it “Al” comes on and visually shows you how to perform the function you are wondering about as well as explains the steps. Students and teachers may access Atomic Learning at school without a logon and password. If you wish to access this from home ask your campus technology specialist for the logon information. Technology ShowcaseIn 1999 New Braunfels hosted the first Spring Technology Showcase, and it has been held annually each year since. This showcase gives teachers and students a chance to present technology enhanced projects they have completed throughout the school year. In addition to “Showcasing” their work teachers, students, parents, and community members have the opportunity to view what others have done in the classroom. Teachers are able to find new ideas, students delight in seeing what their peers have accomplished, parents are proud of the many skills their children have mastered and the community members express amazement in seeing such advanced technology skills integrated into the school's curriculum. A logo contest is held prior to the showcase and the winners logo is printed on t-shirts proudly worn by participating teachers and students on the day of the showcase. You can look for showcase information throughout the school year:
